Your working life · 8 steps
Leaving means choosing the right way to do it, then leaving nothing behind: your untaken leave, your payment, your documents, your health cover and, when you're entitled to it, your unemployment benefit. Here is the order, with the page that handles each step.
Resigning needs nobody's agreement; a mutual termination needs your employer's, but opens unemployment benefit and a payment. During the probation period, short notice is enough.
Resigning does not open unemployment benefit, except in the cases recognised as legitimate, or if your career-change project was approved before you leave. Simulate the amount and duration to know what you'd be giving up.
Termination payment, untaken leave, last salary: calculate each amount before the meeting or the signature, to negotiate with figures and check afterwards.
A dated resignation letter, or a termination agreement with its withdrawal period and then approval; notice runs from the date that counts. The template letters can be filled in with Nego.
Compare the final pay statement with your own calculations before signing it: every amount owed must be on it. If a document is missing, the procedure explains how to claim it.
If you're entitled to unemployment benefit, portability applies in principle, but the insurer needs proof from France Travail: send it as soon as you have it.
If you're entitled to unemployment benefit, register the day after your contract ends, notice included: the registration date is what counts. What follows is in the “I'm out of work” guide.
An up-to-date CV that gets past the recruiters' robots, and your market price for the next negotiation.
Describe your situation: Nego tells you where to start, follows the checked steps of each procedure, does the calculations with the site's tools and drafts your letters. It does not replace the administration: each procedure is completed on the official service.
A mutual termination needs your employer's agreement, but it opens unemployment benefit and a payment at least equal to the statutory redundancy payment. Resigning needs nobody's agreement, but does not open unemployment benefit, except for a legitimate resignation or a career-change project approved before leaving.
Yes: earned but untaken days are paid with your last salary as a payment in lieu of leave, whatever the reason for leaving. The site's calculator estimates it.
The certificate of employment, the final pay statement and the France Travail certificate. Your employer must make them available to you, whatever the reason the contract ends.
It prepares them with you: it compares the options, works out your payments with the site's tools and drafts your letter. Signing and sending stay with you.
