Procedure · Work and leaving a job
When your contract ends, whatever the reason, your employer must make three documents available to you: the employment certificate, the final settlement receipt and the France Travail certificate. Here is how to get them, what to check before signing, and what to do if they are missing.

Letter claiming your end-of-contract documents (in French): replace each part in square brackets, proofread, date and sign. The letter is in French because it goes to a French employer or administration.
Nego follows the checked steps on this page, does the calculations with the site's tools and drafts your letters. It does not replace the administration: the procedure is completed on the official service.
No: they are for you to collect (quérables). The employer must keep them available at the company when the contract ends; it is up to you to collect them, or to ask in writing for them to be sent.
No. Refusing to sign carries no penalty, and the employer must still pay you. An unsigned receipt does not prove payment: you can claim within the usual deadlines, 12 months for anything about the termination (redundancy pay, for example), 2 years for the performance of the contract (business expenses, for example), 3 years for wages.
By recorded-delivery letter to the employer, within 6 months of signing. After that, the receipt releases the employer for the amounts listed on it; amounts not listed can still be claimed.
Your start and leaving dates, the jobs you held and when, and the free continuation of your health and protection cover. Anything that could harm you is forbidden.
You can register without it: in most cases the employer sends it straight to France Travail, otherwise you will be asked to provide it. Without it, your benefit can be delayed: claim it quickly.
A criminal fine. The employment tribunal can also order them to pay you damages if the delay harmed you, for example by delaying your unemployment benefit.
