When an edit does not fit in the original space, the site measures the look of your PDF (column, banner, colours, font, photo) and redraws your CV to match, with all the text.

When you edit your PDF CV in place, each new text has to fit in the old one's space. The site first tightens the letter spacing (by up to 14%), then the size (by up to 10%), and has the AI shorten the text. But an added job, a doubled paragraph, a section to move or a longer translation sometimes does not fit: in place, the site would rather not write than make two lines overlap. The response then carries a rebuild token, single-use, valid for 30 minutes, and the rebuild starts on its own.
Another case: everything fits, but only just (letter spacing reduced by more than 10%, size by more than 3%, or a letter written in a similar font). Your in-place version stays on screen, and a rebuilt version is prepared alongside, so you can compare.
The rebuild measures the look of your PDF with no AI, on the first page: coloured side column or banner, colours of the text, headings and name, sizes, font family, position and proportions of the photo. It sends “My structure” your CV, the edits already made and those that did not fit, and redraws it all in that look, in your browser.

Because a PDF has no spare room: a text longer than the old one would overlap the next line. In place, the site would rather not write than write badly; the rebuild gives back the missing room by redrawing the CV.
