Micro-entreprise (micro-social scheme), rates as of 26 October 2026; tax from URSSAF's simplified model. Turnover ceilings and VAT thresholds not checked.
The modele-social engine, the one behind URSSAF's simulator, is queried with a sole-trader situation under the micro-social scheme: yearly turnover, type of activity, flat-rate tax option, Acre relief and creation date. It returns contributions (social contributions, vocational training contribution, chamber fees where applicable), net income, then net income after tax. Tax under the standard scale applies the micro scheme's flat allowance, then the progressive scale with the household you indicate; the flat-rate option replaces that tax with a percentage of turnover.
A monthly turnover is multiplied by twelve before the calculation, because ceilings, the allowance and tax are all worked out yearly; the monthly amounts shown are twelfths.
So that two people get the same figure from the same gross pay, the site always calculates from the same baseline situation. Each line can be changed in the calculator's options where it matters.
A correct calculation for a typical situation is not your payslip. Here is what the tool does not know, so that you read the result as a reliable order of magnitude, not a promise.
professional services activity, no Acre relief, tax under the standard scale for a single person: contributions, net before and after tax, calculated by the site's engine.

Turnover is not income. First level, contributions: a percentage of turnover, specific to each type of activity, paid monthly or quarterly to URSSAF; in the example, 25.8%. Second level, net before tax: €2,474 a month here, the figure comparable to a net salary, except that it must also pay for your costs, insurance and days without clients. Third level, income tax, which depends on your household and the option chosen. For the same turnover, the three types of activity give different nets: the FAQ puts them side by side.
To know which gross salary your auto-entrepreneur net corresponds to, or which day rate you need to match a salary, use the freelance day rate vs salary tool: it builds on this simulator and adds the inversion to an employee's gross pay. The gross-to-net converter and the net after tax tool do the same journey on the employee side. And if you are weighing an assignment against a job, the average salaries by profession give the market's order of magnitude.
For a professional services activity, contributions take €10,316 a year, i.e. 25.8% of turnover. That leaves €29,684 net before tax, €2,474 a month; after income tax of €1,468 under the standard scale for a single person, €2,351 a month. Business costs are not deducted: the micro scheme applies a flat allowance instead.
The contribution rate and the tax allowance change with the type of activity. For the same €40,000 of turnover: professional services 25.8% of contributions and €28,216 after tax; trade (sales) 12.4% of contributions and €35,028 after tax; craft (services) 22.0% of contributions and €30,759 after tax. A trade or craft activity pays lower contributions on sales than on services (the tool's “What you bill” choice), but selling goods involves purchases the micro scheme does not deduct.
Acre reduces contributions during the first quarters of activity, on request and subject to conditions. With Acre, the same professional services turnover costs €7,760 of contributions instead of €10,316, and leaves €2,687 net a month before tax. The rate depends on the creation date: enter it in the options.
The flat-rate option settles income tax as a percentage of turnover, along with contributions; it is only available below a household income ceiling. In the example, it costs €880 a year against €1,468 under the standard scale for a single person: it is better here, but the order flips for small incomes, which pay no tax under the scale. Compare both lines with your household situation.
The tool does not check them. Above the turnover ceiling for its category, a micro-entreprise switches to a standard regime the following year; above the VAT exemption thresholds, it charges VAT, which does not change its net if clients recover it, but raises its prices for private customers. Check the amounts in force with URSSAF and the tax office before approaching those thresholds.
