An ATS (applicant tracking system) is the software many companies and recruitment agencies use to receive and sort applications. It reads the text of your CV, files it into fields (job, dates, skills) and compares it with the keywords in the job ad. A CV in two columns, saved as an image or missing the right keywords can be misread or misfiled before a human ever sees it.
